Before 1941, ewers were treated as part of the "Vases"
family. (See also "Pitchers.")
In 1936, Roseville began marking pieces with permanent (either impressed
or raised) shape numbers. As a result, all items classified as part of
the "Ewers" family have permanent marks.
1-6" = Bushberry
2-10" = Bushberry
3-15" = Bushberry
4-6.5" = Foxglove
5-10" = Foxglove
6-15" = Foxglove
7-9" = Peony
8-10" = Peony
9-15" = Peony
10-6" = Water Lily
11-10" = Water Lily
12-15" = Water Lily
13-6" = Magnolia
14-10" = Magnolia
15-15" = Magnolia
16-6" = Clematis
17-10" = Clematis

In 1947, Roseville introduced the first of several new shape numbering
systems, none of which were as systematic as the system used between roughly
1916 and 1946.
